He presents unusually late, at the age of fifteen, and without any prior warning. It's almost like he's grown a second skin, one that is simultaneously too large and too tight on his scrawny body.

Courtland expects to feel relief. He's an Alpha, after all, the only child to follow in his father's footsteps.

His mother is born an Omega, awfully timid and quiet, and too afraid to raise her voice. His brother has presented as a Beta young, too gentle and too defiant at the same time. His father has always resented them both for different reasons.

So Court should be relieved, to have dodged a bullet, to escape his father's cutting disappointment.

But then his father takes one look at him, his ragged features contorted into a strange expression, something almost akin to pride. He sweeps his gaze over Court's haggard form, breathes in the heavy stench of a newly presented Alpha, and smiles. The smile is twisted, foreign, wrong; like the newly grown skin pulled taut over his frail bones.

Court feels nothing but repulsion.

“I don't think it fits,” he tells his father.

“It doesn't need to fit,” his father says, the contentment on his face turning sharper, more dangerous. “Just wear it like you own it.”

And so he does.

He tells himself things can be different. That it is still about choice. That his second skin does not come sodden in blood. He can learn to be comfortable wearing it, can accept his status, and still reject society's expectations. He can grow up to be a better Alpha than his old man ever was.

It's only when he's standing above the dying body of his father – the powder burns from his gun tainting his fingers black – that he's struck with the sudden realization that he's always been destined to inherit the violence of his father; that this blood-lusting rage is so deeply carved into his DNA, he cannot have one without the other.

He hardly gets any time to think the first few years locked behind bars. He's too busy avoiding becoming a target. He makes himself bigger than he's ever been, plays his part as the aggressive and strong Alpha, and it feels wrong, sickening, but it doesn't matter because this is not about his comfort but the mere act of survival.

He doesn't experience a proper rut until the CIA has him catching the chain. The abuse and trauma he physically and mentally had to endure over his lifetime have taken a toll on his system and fucked with his hormones enough to suppress any prior ruts.

Though he's never experienced one, he's heard of it. How it takes over one's body and mind, burning up the insides with a maddening fever of raw lust.

Court mainly feels pain.

The CIA pairs him up with an Omega. Court is far too gone to protest at that point, but he doubts it would've mattered anyway. The CIA doesn't seem to care much about his autonomy.

He doesn't know the Omega's name, can barely make out their face past his blurred vision. But he knows what's expected of him.

The Omega is nothing more than a piece of meat for the CIA to dangle in front of him, not much unlike a gnarled bone thrown in front of a starving dog. He's supposed to claim them, feast on them, gorge himself on their willingness to submit.

The Omega tells him it's alright, that they don't mind his roughness, the bruises he leaves behind no matter how much he tries to hold back. Court almost wishes they wouldn't have said anything at all.

His rut ends eventually, the fever subsiding without him ever finding relief. The Omega is taken away quickly afterward. Court never sees them again.

The CIA has provided him with a soulless room in a depressing, gray building, and he's allowed a break, an undisturbed couple of days to gather himself back up.

He takes a shower to try and wash away the last traces of his rut, turns the heat all the way up. It burns him worse than the rut but he doesn't step away from the water. Instead, he uses his hands and nails to scrub, scrub, scrub his skin raw, till it's red, red, red, but still there. Despite everything, it's still a part of him no matter how hard he tries to get rid of it.

He wants nothing more than to shed his own skin, peel it away until it detaches from his flesh, tear it apart, so all that remains is a bloody and shredded framework of bones.

What he once reluctantly accepted and exploited for the sake of safety and survival, he's now grown to outright despise, to reject.

He showers multiple times a day over the next week, rubbing and clawing at his skin until it's stung and irritated. It doesn't make him feel better, only leaves him aching and longing for a different life.

Once his break is up, the CIA gets his training underway. It's brutal and laborious and keeps him busy once more, but it also makes everything worse. The once scrawny, lanky boy has grown into a strong, deadly man who seems to fit every stereotype he's sworn to dismantle.

His hands seem to be constantly coated in blood nowadays. He has to stop looking into the mirror when his reflection keeps twisting into the wilted image of his father.

At least he gets put on heavy military-grade suppressants. It berefts him of his ruts and fucks with his pheromones enough to dampen the aggressive smell of his Alpha; but above else, it mainly makes him numb. Court doesn't complain. It's better than the alternative.

He tries to keep to himself, avoid other Alphas at all costs though that's not always possible. He hates it, feels so out of place, uncomfortable, and strangely alien when he's around others.

Rumors begin to spread like wildfire, and as much as he tries to stay unbothered, it makes his hackles rise. They assume he's an omega because why else would he be so tight-lipped, act so odd and deflective whenever the topic gets brought up.

He doesn't know what to think of that. The word Omega doesn't feel as scalding as its counterpart, but it still doesn't fully seem to fit.

It's a bitterly cold winter night when Six makes the decision to hook up with an Alpha for the first time. He finds him in a seedy bar, his cheeks flushed and lashes wet from the snow.

He's freshly off a mission. The gun has left indents in the palm of his hand and he believes he can still feel the sticky, crawling sensation of blood despite the hour-long shower he took.

The alpha is leaning against the beer-sodden bar when Six spots him, nursing a cheap whiskey with one big, calloused hand. He's tall, taller than the Sierra agent, a burly, broad frame with a handsome, aged face.

The stranger turns, then, meeting his gaze dead-on. Six's pulse ticks up, his insides twisting. He isn’t quite sure whether it's from arousal or repulsion.

His instincts are reeling deep below his sternum but he's feeling daring, still drunk on the adrenaline-fueled high of his most recent kill and desperately chasing for more, to break through the heavy, numbing haze of the suppressants.

He ends up with his face shoved against the rough wall behind the bar. The stranger doesn't grant him the comfort of a bed, merely tugs down both of their pants as far as necessary and kicks Six's feet apart. Six thinks he prefers it this way.

The man's merciful enough to work Six open, though it still hurts when he pushes inside. They have nothing but a condom, and Six has never done this before, is hardly prepared to take a single finger, much less the thick cock of another fucking Alpha.

The Alpha's obnoxious scent is filling up the entire alleyway. It's thicker than the smoke of cigars, impenetrable like the billowing fumes of the streets. It clogs up Six's nose, lays heavy on his tongue, sharp and bitter all at once.

Everything about the experience is uncomfortable; the fingers in his hair, tugging and pulling and pressing his cheek into the sharp bricks; the hand on his hip, digging into his bones, squeezing bruises into his flesh; the mouth on him, panting against the shell of his ear, licking and biting up the side of his throat.

Six flinches away when teeth scrape over the skin just below his scent gland but he doesn't get far. The Alpha crowds him further against the wall, keeping an unbreakable hold on him as he relentlessly thrusts into him from behind.

A grunt escapes Six's bloody lips, gut twisting in fear but when the stranger reaches out and grabs his cock, it's already painfully hard and it doesn't take long for him to spill all over the Alpha's sweaty hand.

The Alpha doesn't stop, taking more pleasure than he draws from him, and Six is left to moan against the cold brick wall. He's cold and his legs are trembling by the time the Alpha finishes and pulls away.

“You're not an Omega,” the stranger acknowledges and Six just shrugs because his lungs have yet to fill up with oxygen again.

“And neither are you a Beta.”

Six shakes his head.

The man regards him with a flat, unreadable expression, “I didn't peg you as an Alpha.”

Six simply spits a glob of blood onto the dirt-stained pavement, the inside of his cheek sore where he's bitten through it. Then he shrugs once more and stumbles away, out of the alleyway and back into the shadows.

It becomes a common occurrence after that. The CIA keeps him on a short leash but Six still finds time to slip away every few weeks. He goes looking for meaningless fucks with willing Alphas every chance he gets, in the dark corners of whatever shabby bar is closest to him. He keeps seeking them out no matter how uncomfortable they make him feel.

It's painful, shameful, to be reduced to nothing but a whimpering mess under the aggressive grasp of another Alpha, but he cannot help himself. There is a certain thrill at being forced to give up control. It's strangely alluring, addicting.

He doesn't get off on the pain. In fact, he deeply despises it. But there is a certain sense of detachment that comes with it. It's still not enough to chip away his second skin, but it makes it less restricting, more bearable, gives him something else to focus on.

And then Lloyd comes along and ruins everything.

Lloyd manages to do something no one else has ever done before – he takes one look at Six, gasping and writhering where he's pushed into the wall, chin forcefully tilted back with the muzzle of a gun, and sees right through him.

“Ohh,” he croons, “What a little, pathetic Alpha you are.” He leans in, nuzzles at the column of Six's throat, digs the gun deeper to expose more of the heated flesh.

Gritting his teeth, Six keeps himself deathly still. He swallows down a rising growl, not willing to give Lloyd the satisfaction of a reaction.

“Or,” Lloyd continues, “Is it Omega?” His smile is full of teeth, his leer predatory, and Six does the only thing he can think of.

He fishes for the grenade safely tucked in the pocket of his pants, and pulls the safety pin.

In hindsight, he should've killed Lloyd then and there.

What follows isn't Six's fault. He is aware of that even though it doesn't stop the guilt from eating away at him. His handler is dead, his protégé traumatized, and Six just yearns for a fucking nap.

He's never felt such deep-rooted anger like he does for Lloyd. The Alpha is loud and arrogant and violent, and Six would've torn his fucking face off if Suzanne hadn't stopped him in form of a bullet to his thigh.

The next few weeks are a blur of heavy sedatives and strong pain medication. He's used to feeling trapped but the cuffs binding him to the hospital bed make him sick to his stomach. He finds great satisfaction in ripping them apart.

Tracing Claire's whereabouts is easier than expected and it pisses him off because the CIA obviously doesn't care enough to provide a proper safe house.

He steps onto the property, the smell of blood of his guards at the hospital still sticking to his clothes. The violence of his actions, though necessary, has torn something open deep inside him, a festering wound he fears will never heal again.

Perhaps he is his father's son, after all. Perhaps he's never been anything else.

He feels like a stranger, not only in his skin but his very own bones as he gets closer to the safe house.

His body aches, most of his injuries still not fully healed but he sets his jaw and pushes forward. Breaking open a window at the back of the building, he heaves himself up onto the ledge.

As soon as both his feet are flat on the ground, he goes to work, not daring to waste time. The suppressants have dulled his scent enough to stay hidden as he puts down the vinyl cover and a sloppily written note.

Incapacitating the guards hardly takes any effort. It doesn't bring him any satisfaction, only further rips and gashes at the wound inside. But it's worth it in the end, when all is done, and the blood has begun to dry, and Six pushes open the door separating him from Claire.

Being reunited after being forcefully pried apart feels a bit surreal. Claire looks tired, worn, but her smile is sincere as she clings to him, her nails sharp as claws where they dig into Six's shoulders but he doesn't have the heart to step away.

Instead, he buries his face into her hair, catching the subdued but familiar scent of a young Alpha; intense but gentler somehow, softened by the sweet and mellow taste of wild flowers dried by the sun.

Claire.

The scent slips below his skin easily, effortlessly, soothing the ragged edges of the wound beneath.

Claire is still so awfully young. Too young to be burdened by bearing the weight of her status. And yet, she does not seem to let it drag her down. Despite being impressionable and at the mercy of her biology, through all the illness and grief and trauma, the brutality of the last few weeks – she's remained unchanged.

Her eyes are still kind, her touch still gentle, and her heart untinged.

Six presses her tighter against his chest, his grip white-knuckled where it's clutching the back of Claire's shirt. He takes a moment, then, allows himself to linger, to breathe in the soft, calming scent of his protégé. For once, it does not feel like he's suffocating in the confinement of his own skin.

I just followed you in the past few days and had looked through your work more than anything else and when you thanked us I felt kinda bad because I thought it was so so so nice of you to do but I hadn’t put much thought in the person behind it. I was so wrapped up in learning about a new character from a universe I loved that I’ve never noticed before and I took an effing Tolkien humanities collage class. 😅😂

Also hello fellow Libra ♎️ I also enjoy dnd I’ve never played but have read a few of the older books, read the Drizzt comics, and haven’t played but watched the play through a of Baldurs gate 3 (Astarion and Sorn Orlith omg 😳) Also have you heard of chuckles the clown? 😂 my favorite race from dnd is half-elves (I was a gifted adhd kid so I can relate to the being picked on and not fitting in) and Drow they fascinate me.

Also Star Wars (there’s a comic from like the 1970’s with a character called Taikotelai who was a one and one like feral so I’m writing a fic to fix that I love him he didn’t deserve to die. Harry Potter too (Ravenclaw is my house, my collage professor also did a Harry Potter humanities class and sorted us into houses and kept score. It was awesome especially since he dressed as snape one time since he’s the same personality type and a Slytherin. (Ravenclaw won, Hufflepuff in second, Slytherin, and Gryphandor had negative points 😂 they kept saying the name Voldemort and he penalized for that.)

Star Trek (depending on the series), transformers especially tfp and tfa prowl (he loves organic nature and quiet which I get). Bluey don’t judge me I’m 20-25 (not comfortable with publicly sharing true age) I’m allowed to like children’s shows and books with some adult themes occasionally, life doesn’t give us a happy ending why should fiction. 😂 marvel, some dc, A-team. MASH klinger is the original Disney Princess 🤣 change my mind if you don’t know who that is you must google him.

I really REALLY needed to try my hand at doing wet fur, the images wouldn't leave my brain jhdfjg "He looks like he'd make a wet splat sound if he was slapped on a wall" YESSS OH THAT WAS THE EXACT GOAL, GOOD. I will say these are mostly inspired by yet-to-be-released Sword Lifted chapters sooo... spoilers without context? But here, enjoy our delightful Wet Yuki commentary:

AWH MAN I've been drawing Tetsu A LOT lately (and I will dO IT AGAIN) but I realized I hadn't really drawn that many sibling moments between him and Yusuke, so there's THE COMFOOORT! My thought with that one was them comforting each other about having lost Keiko. Tetsuya is not one to cry often at all, but Keiko was his whole world for twenty-five years of his life. That kind of pain doesn't go away so easily... It's so good that they both can have someone to grieve with now, though. They don't have to go through this alone!!

Oh it definitely stung Yusuke that his nephew doesn't remember him, and it's really weird on Yuki's part too! Rhin and I keep going back to discussing Yuki's characterization in Sword Lifted just because the situation on his part is so strange it's impossible to "react accordingly". This guy you don't remember and whom nobody told you about was almost like an older brother to you and played with you and cradled you to sleep as a baby, how wild is that??? But listen, I do know if anyone was going to look at this situation in the most practical, polite and straightforward way, it would be Yuki.

THEY'RE BATTLE BNNUYYYS you know, for being a samurai-inspired AU on an action shonen show's setting, I sure don't draw as much actual samurai-ing as I should djfgjdf I NEED TO REMEDY THAT, I'm really itching to do some big dramatic illustrations, but my to-draw list just keeps getting larger and larger with bunny stuff..... awh lord save me.

Oh Yuki is definitely all steel under that fur for sure for sure. I feel like I tend to draw characters scrawnier than they'd realistically be, but it's kind of my brain unconsciously going LITTLE BOY djfdgf to be honest Yusuke, Ken and Mari are the ones I'm generally more conscious about, when it comes to body types? Just because Rhin made a really good point of them being Big Guy, Tall Slim Guy and Hourglass Woman and I'm so weak about SHAPES. But also as I keep improving with my anatomy I try to be more aware of what the body types of my OCs are, and how to show that with time too.

SaL anon here my friend, happy to wish us luck on the upcoming episode, on this very normal day where the 911 PR team absolutely did not choose to unleash chaos. Here I was just hoping to enjoy the conclusion of the cruise disaster saga, especially after last week's heartstopping Bathena performance, but nooooo, I won't even get to enjoy 1 millisecond of satisfaction before I'm gnawing my arm off waiting for next week's episode and an explanation for why Buddie are *waves hand nonsensically at stills* THAT.

Anyway, I know I should remember the mantra about getting our hopes up but I can't help it for tonight, the last two episodes have been so incredibly solid and everything I love about 911 that I can't help but raise the bar from where it was (somewhere around the Earth's core) to something at least knee high. So cheers friend, here's hoping any post episode drinking is optional, not necessary 🍷🍷🍷!!!

Not me hitting post limit before 4:30 in the afternoon 🙄. This has been me for HOURS

Sorry I have fandom shit going on Tumblr, and not a lot of actual work to keep me busy. I think the post limit should be at least 500 posts a day. Just let me be unhinged!! I even scheduled some posts out to different days to avoid this but here we are. 🙃 I need 911 and FHJY to not air on back-to-back days for realsies.

I didn't even catch those stills at first since my app is still not working so I can't actually see my dash so I was just chillin in the d20 tag when I suddenly noticed 911 was trending and decided to check what was up and WHOOOOO BOY! What IS all that?! Why are they like this?! They're killing meeeee!

ANYWAY

That mess is for next week. This cruise disaster arc is ABSOLUTELY a veeeeeerrrry close second to the tsunami arc for me. That one edges it out because we got to see more of everyone on the team doing rescues while this one (DESERVEDLY) focused more on Bobby and Athena, but MAN was it gripping television! I laughed, I cried, I legit clapped and cheered when Buck and Eddie showed up to get Bobby and the little boy, I mourned for Wes the security guard, it was all SO, so, so good. And we got badass Bobby on rescue duty!! Athena taking charge and taking NO shit from anyone! We got the firefam being a FAMILY which includes bickering, tattling, gentle ribbing, and having each other's backs because you know each other better than anyone else. I had a GREAT time.

I know we have been pretty good at keeping our expectations down but for right now, I'm felling a little more confident in the show as a whole to deliver good firefam stuff so I'm raising that bar a little bit. As for Buddie, well. I guess we'll see? I'd be lying if I said I was excited about seeing them dating other people AGAIN, no matter if it's supposed to "set the stage" or whatever for Buddie because I just think going the route we SHOULD have had after the shooting. Getting them both keeping their feelings realizations secret from each other and then having a third party confession come out with Chim/Maddie and Hen each getting one side of it and then accidentally cluing each other in has a better feel for me, especially with the delicious flavor of Eddie still having a gf at the moment. But I'm reserving judgement FOR NOW, on how it could ultimately play out for Buddie. It might be fine in the end with how it all comes together, but I'm not going to "settle" for just being happy if Buck comes out and taking whatever relationship we are given instead of the one that's been built up since season 2. But I'm also not throwing in the towel because we don't know where it's going yet. (At least we lucked the FUCK out and someone else gave AK a job so we don't have to put up with THAT nonsense again.)

For now, I'm going to revel in the show ABSOLUTELY coming back with a bang and feeling like the 911 and firefam we all know and love and have DEEPLY missed. The difference between this arc and that blimp emergency is LAUGHABLE. Bless Tim for coming back and giving us this incredible arc and really showcasing Angela and Peter and the Bathena relationship. Jesus, CHRIST.

LITERALLY I SCREAMED, I just. Oh my God!? I WAS LIKE REALLY!? IS DIANE COMING BACK!? but no sadly no.. but the writers gave us something we wanted even tho it wasn't real. BUT HOLY SHIT MORTY ☹️

When his fear was having rick die, I think it was more of a momental fear where it was just more of a concern than fear? But then it turned out to be him not being accepted, I think, THEN it turned out he feared that he'd be replaced ☹️ I think after all this time seeing other versions of morty's dying left and right he'd eventually be replaced too, I mean tell me about it. Rick doesn't need him anymore to kill rick prime right? So maybe post event morty felt less valuable to him that he probably start fearing that one day he'd just die and rick wouldn't care and it's just so sad :( I mean rick is probably morty's first ever friend and someone he can actually trust. And it's just so heartwarming to see both morty's and Rick's development as a duo and as themselves,

Season 1 started off as Rick with one set on goal, to kill rick prime. And concidering morty back then he obviously was so new to all of Rick's antics and so as morty grew up during the seasons he grew more confident and independent from rick

I MEAN HE LITERALLY TOOK A FLYING BIKE TO GO BACK TO DENNYS TO CONFRONT THE GUY would season 1 morty do that!? No! And thats the point

He changed! well he's obviously the same but something about him makes him more confident on himself to actually take lead. He's always the side kick to rick the batman and joker type of duo. But now it's slowly grown to a side kick to an actual equal

And I am just so happy for him (ㅠ︿ㅠ), it's like seeing a best friend grow with you. I mean cmon I've watched rick and morty since I was A TODDLER my cousin introduced it to me once and I've never thought few years later when I'm ACTUALLY morty's age TODAY?, I see him genuinly grow through the years.

BUT THE FACT THAT HE'S SCARED OF NOT BEING ACCEPT KILLS ME, even tho it's not his greatest fear it's still considered as one since the realm responded to it. But still oh my God this showwwwww killlsss meeeee insiiiideee.

Kinda lost

Im in a much better place than before. I know that. Im married to the loml. Im almost done with my studies and everything. but i feel like shit rn. idk why.

why do i have the constant need to be validated by others? Why is my self esteem so freaking low? why cant i just be content and confident? WHy cant i be entertained just by being with myself? WHy do I have the urge, the need to keep posting things to the outside world. wantnig to let it out without actually being in close contact with anyone? what do we call this behaviour?

I’m tired of having those traits. I sometimes feel like such an ungrateful asshole. i mean, what else can I get? I should be so much more content than this.

I can totally see this being a screenshot from a feel-good coming-of-age romcom :O Like a group of 20-something high school or college friends save up and go to Europe/Greece to Find Themselves™️ and such. They're still figuring out the transition into full adulthood--being out of school, adapting to various different jobs and careers, sometimes struggling to find time for each other among adult responsibilities, etc. Hiccup and Anna have had eyes for each other since the day they met, but various exes and unrequited crushes of the past have made them not have the confidence to ever really...try something with each other.

And, after all, why ruin a perfectly good friendship over a shallow fling probably not fated to last? There's no way they'd actually make it...was there?

As the trip goes on, staying in close proximity to each other reawakens a certain kind of tension that hasn't been around for years. With every chunk of B&B food they throw at each other and every plastic piece of headwear they dress each other in in cheap gift shops and every laugh Anna gets out of Hiccup for an incredibly lame joke, their friends feel something is shifting. When Anna falls out of their tour boat while trying to do a dramatic reenactment of The Odyssey, it barely catches the other passengers by surprise when Hiccup grabs a life preserver and dives in, fully-clothed, after her.

Then, one day, they're walking the streets of lovely, sunlit Santorini, and Anna decides to stop tiptoeing around the point. Mostly, anyways.

"CATCH MEEEEE!"

When Anna charges at him at full speed, all Hiccup has time to do is comply. Darting away and letting her faceplant on the cobblestones would be a coward's move, not to mention make him look like a real jerk.

Not like he's been daydreaming about this moment or anything.

She giggles as she jumps into his arms, like she's diving headfirst into a pool on a hot summer day. Hiccup holds his breath, trying to process everything as Anna hangs suspended.

He wonders if it makes him a creep to think about how good her, um...very nice figure feels under his hands. He tries not to dwell on this too much. Or the fact that their mouths are inches apart now, and Anna's beaming so wide it's radiant. Or how Anna smells like the rose in her hair--stolen first by Jack from some poor village lady's flower garden, and then by Hiccup to playfully gift to Anna.

Anna's the one to finally finish the job. When she leans in and captures his lips, he feels like one of the heroes from the myths. He feels like he--they--could do anything.

Getting to this one a lot faster than last week, ayyyyy shout out to meeeee and ending my day early at work! Cannot wait til this one is available to all, but until then, we’re going under a read more!

I have to say, the pacing of this entire arc has been SO GOOD. The way leading up to 170 was just this build up of anxiety every week, each episode harder for me to read because he KNEW what Nol was getting up to, to the climax of 170, to now the fantastic comical tones of these episodes following. It really harkens back to the early episodes, with quim’s special brand of humor back in full force.

Not part of the comical hijinks, of course Rand and Yui’s entire conversation gave me a lot of unease on Rand and Kousuke’s behalf. Behind closed doors, Yui definitely is not putting on an act - not for Rand, at any rate. Look how often her eyes are open in these scenes! She is deadset on talking to Rand about the things she’s seen and heard (perhaps she’s becoming aware that Rand is up to something with Yujing?) but Rand, on the other hand, is the only one of them concerned about how uncharacteristically Kousuke is behaving by not answering his calls. To his credit, Rand legit seems concerned - he’s not angry or whatever Kousuke is afraid of but just concerned about his son. 

Yui, though, doesn’t seem concerned and this is where it’s like, really weird for me? Because Yui goes on to imply how good it is to see Kousuke with a mind of his own and.... not being mindlessly obedient to his tyrannical father. Which is uh. Weird? Have we ever seen Rand act as a tyrant to Kousuke? Certainly with Nol but isn’t this an interesting phrasing? In fact, I think the fact that it’s bolded makes it an even more interesting choice. Is this a case of Yui twisting a situation? She does have a tendency to do this a lot, say things that are not exactly true, as she sees it. Is she trying to make Rand feel guily, that if Kousuke IS acting up, it IS his fault, even though maybe it’s not? It does feel like she’s kind of tweaking the situation, right? Have we been wrong the whole time and Rand has been worse than we’ve seen? (I’m not convinced of this tbh.) I do feel like this is a case of Yui deliberately trying to get inside Rand’s head, the way she’s done with Nol in the past. 

I love that Rand pointedly says he’s worried about his son and “shouldn’t you be too” Yui? Because... isn’t that weirdly suspicious? That she’s just absolutely not concerned that Kousuke is acting INCREDIBLY uncharacteristically? She, more than anyone, should know that Kousuke’s fear of disappointing Rand is so great, because SHE is the one who cultivated and fostered it. And knowing that Nol is acting out, too.... is she just straight up unconcerned? Is she truly a psychopath with no emotional concern? lol One day I want to write a post talking about Yui because I’m just not convinced Yui is “simply” a scorned lover. There’s also been a longstanding theory that Yui doesn’t... really.... care that much about Kousuke. That he’s always been a puppet to her that he’s her means of power and control in the family business, where she’s unable to do it via Rand. And this really supports that theory. I’m not saying it PROVES it or anything, but I do think it lends a lot of possibility to it, because she has more important things at play right now. Otherwise, why isn’t she concerned that Kousuke is NOT behaving like himself? 

In that same vein, the first time she shows any reaction is when they overhear people talking about someone jumping off a balcony, and the moment Kousuke is name dropped, she finally shows a reaction - but BOY Rand’s reaction! (That is SUCH a Nol expression it KILLS me. The resemblance between them in this episode is STRONG.) 

I can’t believe just the other day I was ranting about Rand and how I can never figure this man out and how much he FRUSTRATES ME and and I want to fight him only to find him holding Nol’s scarf, looking upon it with... what. Regret? In reflection? To me, he seems to show some kind of concern, like seeing Nol’s scarf, knowing he ended up in the pool FROM A BALCONY.... do you think he’s fearing dark things, too? Do you think he’s reflecting on the way he’s treated Nol knowing that he definitely at fault for the state Nol’s been in? Maybe Rand is finally starting to see that he was NOT in fact able to protect Nol, that he’s worse off than he could have been if Rand had parented him. Like, dude really left his son for the elements (aka Yui) and reinforced the feeling that he is worthless and a mistake. I wonder if he’s finally starting to acknowledging he has failed both of his sons spectacularly? 

And then on the flipside, you have Yui. That conversation she has with the security guard, the AUDACITY to ask if he dragged anyone down with him?! I’m guessing in her mind she was wondering if they were fighting and a tumble happened, and instead finding that no, it was Nol acting completely out of control. Indeed, Yui, too, wonders “who is raising these kids.” The way she looks right at Rand, eyes open like that. 

Yui is so big mad about Rand and Nol. She is beyond upset that Nol is now beyond her control and that Rand is doing nothing to reign him back in (and bring him back to her control). HEW boy that’s scary. Legit getting worried for Nol. 

I almost feel sorry for laughing, but Kousuke stressed to death and losing his mind is, unfortunately, my favorite version of Kousuke LMAO. Dude canNOT handle stress, okay? In this case, it’s at least comical, because what is Kousuke’s logic here? If this were anything else, I’d say this is just a convoluted plot to get Nol to the party but this is just Kousuke bless him. Can’t bring him to his place because Nol will... ruin it? lol Can’t send him home with Hansuke cos he doesn’t trust Hansuke. Can’t leave Hansuke to babysit Nol because father is expecting BOTH of them. No one has considered (out loud) bringing him to Nana? 

I THINK he’s using Shinae’s party as a scapegoat, maybe (Nol had a schedule conflict? lol) and because he did promise Shinae he’d try to get Nol to the party? And this feels flimsy but I’m trying okay. Because I can’t imagine Kousuke is going to show up WITHOUT Nol - because he made a demonstration that he has no interest in attending the party and it was only when he said he’d try to bring Nol that Shinae seemed to care. So, if he showed up, would she be disappointed that he came without Nol? Rather, would she just be confused?

What’s he going to do, bring him and leave him in the car? I can’t imagine THAT because it’s cold, and why would HE attend the party but leave Yujing and or Hansuke in the car with Nol. Again, Kousuke didn’t want to leave Nol under someone else’s care because Kousuke feels like HE’S expected to watch Nol and keep him under control. If he wasn’t willing to leave him with Hansuke, why would he go to a party and leave him with Hansuke and/or Yujing. 

I feel like Yujing has big regrets for having stopped to talk to the cousins because I cannot imagine she was expecting THIS lmao. I can’t believe (except no i can lol) they’re CARTING NOL AROUND ON A LUGGAGE TROLLY LMAO like he’s a dead body they’re trying to hide - the way Kousuke is TALKING like this is some dark comedy and he’s got a body to hide LMAO. I’m still laughing at Kousuke’s “Yujing I have to ask you for a big favor” BECAUSE WHATEVER HE’S ABOUT TO ASK IS BEYOND A FAVOR and I just know Yujing is going to get involved LMAO and she’s probably SO FULL OF REGRETS. Like. I haven’t gotten over her reaction to pulling back the cloth and finding Nol just... undressed and passed out. (I know some people have wondered if it reminds her of her friend’s incident but the way she reacts seems less that and more concerned that Kousuke did something to knock Nol out?) 

But Yujing’s expression through this entire conversation is just like :||| the whole time and god you can tell she’s full of regrets.

Other questions plaguing me: WHEN is this party supposed to start? It’s probably near 9 p.m. by the time Kousuke shows up and Shinae and Minhyuk still aren’t there? Why was Shinae calling him? If it was to say she’s running late or ask if he’s going or to check if he’s able to bring Nol, wouldn’t that be giving it away? I guess if Minhyuk went to go do something/buy something/use the bathroom it’s a quick moment for her? You’d think texting would be more convenient but? What do I know! The timeline of this whole thing is really interesting - and I find it funny because so many people were so sure Nol wouldn’t be able to make it to the party at all because it would likely be over but sike this thing has yet to begin! lmao (I kept saying I kept thinking if he DID show up it’d be at the end but HERE WE ARE HUH.)

More questions: if they are bringing Nol inside.... are they just haulting him into the Park house? Wrapping him in a sheet? Shoving him in a room to wait for him to sober up? WHAT IS KOUSUKE THINKING? WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?
